He prefers to date outside the military. He tried dating other guys within the special forces, but found it more stressful.

Everyone tends to be smaller than him, so he's leaned into his short-kings.

Loves chubbier guys.

Worried you wouldnt like him because of his facial scars. Or the bullet wounds in his arms, chest and abdomen. He was taken aback when you didnt even flinch when you first met in person.

Has a hard time verbalizing his thoughts to his partners, but will leave notes everywhere. Usually simple "I love you." or "I miss your smile." notes are left for you at the beginning.

Flexes his hands when nervous. It gives him something to focus us when he's having an anxiety attack.

Nothing calms him down faster than you putting your fingers at the base of his neck and gently caressing him.

When he does become more verbal with you - usually after several months - he will stutter and stammer when he talks. He gets so excited to tell you about his day, or how much he missed you, etc, that he cant get it out fast enough.

Giving? Receiving? Yes. He has no preference when it comes to sex. The first time he had sex with you, you were bent over a table, and it took the better part of an hour just to get him in. But he was fine to take his time, he wanted you to enjoy it as much as he did.

He is big, yes, but his cock isn't massive. He's thick, and a little over 8" uncut.

He is very much into after-care. He scooped you up in his arms after the first time and carried you to bed. He loved to give you kisses and ask you how you feel, if you're OK, what you liked, didn't like, and would like to try.

He cleans up the kitchen after you eat. You've told him he doesn't have to, but he says he's used to it and doesn't mind.

When he has something important he wants to say or ask you, he'll pace around the room. You've had complaints from the down-stairs neighbour about stomping.

He loves to carry you. Will swoop you up in his arms randomly so he can stare into your eyes and give you a kiss. But only in private.

He has a hard time showing affection in public. It makes him anxious. But if you really want to hold hands, he will tough it out.

On particularly bad days he will go to the shower to cry. You know what he's doing, but give him that space. When he finally emerges, you always tell him you love him and give him a kiss.

He. Is. Such. A. Nerd. And he only shows that side to you. Star Trek? Star Wars? BSG? Yes. Hes watched every episode and movie and quotes them often. Also very much into old-school Gundam and model kits. Gaymer.

He once spent the whole day re-organizing your closet. It was amazing and you loved it. When you asked why, all he could say was "I just wanted to."

Need something cleaned, moved or tossed? He's your man. You barely have to get the words out and hes on it.

You only ever see him smile around you. In the few times he's interacted with other people, he always reverted to his resting-bitch-face. When he wasn't wearing the face mask. It helped his anxiety in public.

He never used to like bubble baths, but you changed his mind. He would come back from deployment tired, sweaty and sore. So you drew him a bath and washed him down. It became a habit, and something he looked forward to.

He had an unplanned coming out to his squad mates. You two were on a date around town when they happened to be passing by. When they asked who you were, you tried to come up with something on the spot, but König just blurted out "My boyfriend." In a matter-of-factly tone.

The one wearing a skeleton face mask looked at you and just gave an affirming nod. The one with the Mohawk looked like he was about to have a stroke. "Yae gay?" He asked. König nodded. "Ane yae ne'er told mae? I spenn months try'nae set yae up with women, ane yae said nottin?!" König shrugged.

You learned through his squad mates his favourite colour (Pale Blue), and foods (Mostly German, to no ones surprise) and that he actually had a bad sweet-tooth. You learned to bake for him.

When you had stuffed him (full of food!), you'd both flop down on the couch and binge-watch something. He'd lay down on your lap. Your hands would work their way up his shirt to caress his stomach.

“I really, really don’t think it’s a good idea for me to meet Brother Arnault and Brother Roland,” Catius says fretfully, “Sons of Dorn and Sons of Guilliman have had some… bad blood and poor, at least on the side of the Sons of Dorn, reaction to Sons of The Imperial Regent.”

“... Yeah, historically, that’s true,” Ramiel says with a reluctant nod.

“But they didn’t charge, hurt, or yell at Jophie,” Cedric points out hopefully, “and they know he’s a Librarian. You are a normal battle brother of our age range. And we’ve talked about all of you to the both of them, and to Angela and Becky a lot. They want to meet all  of you.”

“They know that you are an Ultramarine,” Ramiel says, “and with Angela and Becky there to help smooth things over, it should go well.”

“... If you sure it’s a good idea,” Catius says still uncomfortable with the idea. 

They are tag teaming him to meet with Roland and Arnault. Just like how Jophiel and Claude are tag teaming him to meet with Lenora and Erriox. The four of them are concerned that he’s not been as social as he usually is.

He’s been doing alright, he scratches at one of his cheeks, as he ignores some of the whiskers that are starting to grow on his face. Catius knows that growing beards isn’t really done for Sons of the Imperial Regent, he’s going to have to shave soon.

It’s just getting the energy to do so has been harder and harder to do so. Which, for some reason, has upset the rest of his brother-cousins. He’s usually quite tidy and almost fussy as they tease him about his appearance.

“... Give me a few more days to think on it.” Catius says with a shrug, his scales are still healthy- he eats enough, mostly because Cedric and Ramiel in particular would fuss if he didn’t. He scratches at one of his elbows and some of his scales shed and he flicks the scale away. It’s duller and less lustrous, but that makes sense for  the shed scales.

Really- his colorations are so fucking flashy. So what if his colorations become less vibrant the longer he’s been staying on Ancient Terra? It happens sometimes, color shifting and changes happen, due to a change from Battle Brother to Specialist. Among other reasons, he still grooms, both in private and socially with his brothers.

His brother-cousins have been a bit clingier and watching him more as of late. Especially after… after he failed to rescue Atlas. Jophiel had brought up that Erriox- as an Iron Warrior, and one who’s very good with crafting- might … be able to help Catius with his vox issue. But in order for that to happen, he has to meet Erriox.

He looks at the jars that contain… What's left of him, gently touching one of his hands to the jar, Catius ignores the tears that trickle down his face. Perhaps he should let Cedric take the organs with him to visit Erriox and Lenora when they are at the Iron Warriors base so he can add them to the collection of other organs to be implanted in Aspirants, when or if they find people who can become them.

It would be selfish of him to want to keep the last remaining parts at Atlas here, where they can’t be of use. But he just can’t… can’t bring himself to say those words to Cedric, or Ramiel, or Jophiel, or Claude, not yet at least.

 His scales are slowly graying from sustained grief, not that he cares all that much- but it’s worrying his brother-cousins terribly. It’s barely noticeable, like the facial hair that is trying to grow on his face, all patchy and bristles. 

Mostly because if he doesn’t Jophiel will follow after him and wail dramatically at him that Catius doesn’t care about them and love them any more. Woe is them. Until he lightly smacks his most irritating baby brother with his tail and drags the brat by his ear to groom his wings.

Which has the Jophiel shutting up for a bit of time while the other cackles that Catius fell for his Trap, which is hilarious because he’s the one that’s wrapped Jophiel in his powerful tail to groom the little idiot.

And his grumbling allows Jophiel to help take care of his scales- with Claude conveniently there to help with his back scales that are difficult to reach. And then Cedric and Ramiel show up and it’s a group session of taking care of each other's scales.

“When are you going to shave again?” Jophiel asks in that obnoxious tone of voice that has Catius scowling at him.

“When I feel like it,” He replies, “What’s wrong with me growing a beard?”

Jophiel lets out a cackle, “That is not a beard. It’s peach fuzz.”

“I- how dare you!” Catius huffs angrily, “it’s still growing, so of course it’s not particularly good to look at yet.”

“I don’t think you are old enough to properly grow a beard,” Jophiel continues, making a face at him, “So just shave it off already!”

“Or what?” Catius asks scowling at his most annoying brother-cousin, at the moment.

“Or I’ll shave it off myself!” Jophiel says.

Catius glares at him again- although he sees some concern and worry at the edges of his taunting smirk. The way the others are watching them. He groans and sighs, “I’m just … tired right now. I’ll do it later.”

Jophiel’s face twists a little at that, “I…”

“Leave him alone for now, Jophiel,” Ramiel pipes up suddenly, Jophiel gives him a look, which Ramiel returns, the Primaris Black Templar using a bit of his Chaplain Voice, “I said, leave him alone for now.”

“Yes Rami,” Jophiel says with a huff as he swims off, with a backwards glance before he pounces on an unwary Claude who lets out a startled, “oomph.” noise.

“... Do you want to talk about what’s bothering you?” Ramiel asks, his voice gentle-interrogating, like a Chaplain about to poke at festering emotional wounds.

‘Oh no,’ Catius thinks, ‘not this.’

“I… will be fine, I just haven’t been able to sleep recently,” Catius says, “Don’t you and Cedric have to go speak with Roland and Arnault about something? They said it was something important. You should go do that now. I need to take inventory.”

With that Catius deliberately swims off to the back of the cave, turning his back on Ramiel and Cedric. He pretends he doesn’t hear the sighs they make or the expressions filled with meaning and emotions behind him.

Let’s make a Sim!

I thought it’d be fun to do a quick step-by-step rundown of how I make Sims. Long post, so I’ll put everything under the cut:

Step 1. Start with a base.

I keep a set of blank base Sims in my gallery to start with, so I don’t have to waste time removing clothes/accessories/hair/etc. These one’s were originally premades (the ones that pop up when you first open CAS), but it really doesn’t matter what they look like because we’ll be changing everything about them in a second.

Step 2. Randomize!

First let’s untick everything but the “face” and “skin tone” boxes for the randomization options. (The whole point of starting off with a base Sim was so we wouldn’t have to bother removing stuff.)

And...randomize!

I use Zerbu’s More CAS Presets mod to add a bunch of additional presets, so randomizing will generally give me something different every time. (I also have a ton of custom presets, but linking them individually would take 100 years, so we’ll skip that.)

Perfect! We’ll use this as a base to work with.

I actually like her underlying structure, so instead of choosing new face presets we’ll just work with what we already have.

Step 3. Adjust, adjust, adjust.

Let’s start making some adjustments. We’ll pull the ears out so they don’t lay so flat against her head, and lengthen her face a bit. I find that Sims tend to have kind of round face shapes with small jaws/chins, and I prefer them to be a little longer and more defined, so that’s usually the first thing I do. (Obviously you’ll tailor your Sims to your personal tastes, though.)

We’ll make some small adjustments to her jaw, cheeks, nose, lips, and chin. I prefer bigger noses on Sims, so I usually drag them down/out a bit. I also like sharper and more “severe” bone structure vs. soft and round, so I like to add extra definition.

Next we’ll add CC eyebrows (@ikari-sims‘s Jenna brows) and adjust the brow line a bit... (I’m a big fan of distinctive brows, so I tend to make them thicker/wider.)

Change the eye color (I’m using @missrubybird‘s Aqua Trigger eyes here), make a few more small facial tweaks...

Aaand there we are! I’m happy with her facial structure, so now we’ll move on to...

Step 4. Body.

I prefer custom body presets to the ones that come with the game, so we’ll use one of @obscurus-sims‘s female body presets and adjust it a bit (widen the shoulders and neck, make arms a bit thicker).

Step 5. Add body blush.

The first detail I add is always tattoo body blush. It’s a small difference, but that little bit of color is a must for me. I’m using a mix of @simandy‘s Torrada Blush and @obscurus-sims‘s Body Blush. (I think I use these two on every Sim I make.)

Step 6. Skin detail time!

Skin details do most of the heavy lifting. We’ll start with a skinblend (@obscurus-sims‘s N15 Overlay):

Then we’ll add some of @okruee‘s Misc. Face Details and one of @sammi-xox‘s Eye Masks.

Then @mmsims‘s Eyelashes V7 + @mintvalentine‘s Lash Filler, @nesurii‘s Little Details, @pyxiidis‘s Miscellany Pt.2 Nosemask, and @miikocc‘s Face-kit No.1.

Fabulous. Officially done with details!

Step 7. Hair.

Next up is adding hair + a hairline. I’m really loving @daylifesims‘s Gretchen hair right now, and we’ll pair it with @pixelore‘s Organic hairline.

Step 8. Makeup.

Optional, of course. I’m using @pralinesims‘s Lioness Eyeliner, @grimcookies‘s August Eyeshadow, @thepeachyfaerie‘s Eraser Lipstick, and @crypticsim​‘s Cloud Blush.

Step 9. Clothes & accessories.

Now let’s dress her up! We’ll go with @its-adrienpastel​‘s Saviour Dress, @solistair​‘s Calf Boots, @aharris00britney​‘s Beret, @kumikya​‘s Pearl Necklace, and @caio-cc​‘s Naomi Earrings.

the clock reads 8:34 P.M you lay in bed on your phone, scrolling mindlessly. you hear a loud crash coming from your window, from what you saw from the corner of your eye, it looked like a person. usually cats or birds will fall onto the fire escape, they'll never crash into it. you open your window and look around and see the spider-man wounded on your fire escape "hey..haha.." he says "a-are you okay?" you ask rushing out onto the fire escape. "yo, you mind uh.. helping me out?" he asks pointing to his wounds. his suit is partially covered in blood. "yeah no i can help you out- uh is that yours orr.." you ask, pointing at the blood on his suit. "i dont really know." i help him into my bedroom window and sit him on my bed. "what do you- what do you need help with?" you ask. what an obvious question. he points down at his bloody and torn suit. "right.." you reply in a low voice, almost a whisper. you leave the room and find your family med kit. is this even real? i mean spiderman is in my house, on my bed, my sheets, asking me for my help. this has to be a dream. you think as you rummage through the hallway closet. you come back seeing him hold on to the side of his stomach. you put the med kit on your desk, your back facing him. "do you- do you know how to treat a dagger wound?" you turn to him quickly "you got stabbed?" you ask in concern. "..sort of?" he replies, you sigh. "wheres the wound?" you ask with a hand on your hip and an exhale leaving your mouth again. he takes his hand off the side of his stomach and shows you the dagger wound. "oh shit." you reply, looking closely at the wound. "im gonna assume you put pressure on it right after you got stabbed because you arent gushin' out blood." you say, turning around to your materials "y-yeah i did. so can you treat it?" he asks, a wince following his reply. "oh yeah for sure, i just need to stitch it up." you say finding the correct materials, which isnt much. its just a needle, some thread, gloves, some cotton pads here and there. you sterilize the needle and thread. "this is gonna hurt like a bitch." you tell him as you organize your stuff. "you could bite down on a wet towel or you can hold on to one of my pillows." you tell him, putting on your blue gloves. "can i, uh, bite the pillow?" he asks. you stop in confusion. "you know what.. sure." you turn around with the thread and needle in hand. "okay so im not a doctor. that means if you get an infection its totally not my fault." you tell him as you sit next to him. he laughs. he lays down on the pile of pillows you have at the feet of your bed. he pulls his mask just above his nose to breathe better, you watch the mask un-reveal his facial features. spiderman has some soft lips- hold up, not the point and obviously not the time. you think to yourself. he grabs the nearest pillow he could find, biting on it. "relax your body, count down to 100, and focus on your breathing" you tell him, inching closer to his wound with the needle in your dominant hand. you start to stitch up his wound. you feel his breathing getting heavier. "you're doing great, just focus on your breathing." you reassure him, still stitching him up.

you finish stitching him up, cut the excess thread and stand up from beside him. "are you feeling okay?" you ask as you grab the cleaning supplies to clean his other wounds. "y-yeah 'm feelin' better already." he tells you, sitting up. "im just gonna clean up your other wounds. is that okay?" you ask him, turning back around to face him and he nods. you turn back around, changing your gloves to clean ones. you sit back down next to him, attending his other wounds.

you see his eyes start to wander around your room. "yo are you a photographer?" he asks pointing to some polaroids on the desk. "oh yeah. i take pictures of things sometimes." you clean around some shoulder scratches he had. "is that me?" he asks about a photo you had on a small box of him swinging around. "oh shit yeah. i saw you swinging around late at night and i snapped a picture. i actually have a couple more in that box. im on the roof a lot and you swing around a lot so.. you know." the room falls silent. did i weird him out? you think to yourself. the silence breaks as he starts talking. "uh do you mind showin' me?" you relax your shoulders hearing his words. "oh yeah, sure." you finish cleaning his shoulder and back wounds and you get the photo box.

you sit down on your desk chair and hand him the photo box. he opens it and takes out the photos you've taken of him. "oh this one looks so badass." he says, showing you a picture you took of him floating in the air. you chuckle lightly at his comment. he pulls out another picture you took of some cats sleeping on a building roof. "i've seen these cats before!" he tells you, a sort of excitement in his deep voice. "i always see them sleeping on the roof next to mine so i have a couple of photos of them." you chuckle as the room goes silent again.

"well uh thanks for the help. sorry for uh.. fallin' on your fire escape?" he chuckles. "yeah no its my pleasure! id say if you need anything you could just come here but uh.. you know." you insinuate to him sending the hint of 'well you're spider-man and im me so i doubt you'll just come back as if im your personal doctor!' he gets the hint and starts to stand up. "oh wait, let me get you a little after-care kit for your wounds." you tell him running out of the room getting the things. you come back with all of the things in a box. you take a post-it note and write the instructions down. "here," you say giving him the box "the instructions are inside." he takes the box and looks back up at you. "oh uh thanks." he tells you with a smile on his face. you open your window for him and he steps out. "be careful with swinging or any physical activities. you dont wanna risk those stitches poppin' out." you both laugh. "ill be seein you spider-man." you tell him. "you too- wait i never got your name." he turns back to you. "bye bye!" you reply, closing your window. "i-" he scoffs, smiling and leaves. he was pretty cute, you thought, well at least what you saw of him was cute.. kind of bummed he wont come back.

this is random and probably not worded the best but do you have any tips on writing men? I tend to struggle writing them.

This is such an interesting question because writing men is not really something that I think about. It comes more naturally to me than writing women (maybe because my own masculinity was left unexpressed for so long that I now just find it pouring out of me). But this gave me an opportunity to think about it.

I think my first piece of advice would be to not think about them as men at all, but instead think of their character traits, the way that you would when writing anyone. What do they desire? What is their biggest fear? How do they want other people to view them? What are their blind spots or weaknesses? That should be the starting point, the heart of the scene.

But there are some differences in attitude/expression, and I think they tend to arise around social expectations. Men are less likely to touch each other in public, for example (at least in contemporary American culture) because that's just not expected. So if you see a full-on hug or kiss or hand holding, especially if it's between two men, that's a bigger deal and it's likely to be a sign of either a confident person who doesn't care what others think, or a lot of emotion.

I also think that in general, shame is likely to be something that's a factor in the character's story. Men are shamed pretty much no matter what they do, just like women are - everybody is shamed under sexist social structures, just in different ways. They are expected to be providers, to be strong, to take action in any crisis, to hide their emotions. If they fail, they are shamed for "femininity". And yet if they succeed in these overt shows of power, they are feared, and are shamed for inspiring fear in others. Imagine the shame of passing a woman on the way home in the evening and seeing her cross the street to avoid you - the shame of knowing that just your body was enough to frighten someone. This is not at all to minimize what women experience in that situation (in many ways that's worse), but men feel something negative too, and their shame has a different nature to it. Now imagine that shame amplified to the extremes of a person who has actually killed others to try to maintain his image, and you get an idea of why I tend to write such self-loathing male characters in the John Wick universe (besides the fact that it's fun to write self-loathing and watch it turn to self-love...)

For the same reason, loneliness is a bigger factor. There's near-constant, competitive social performance going on for men, especially men in high-profile positions within organizations that have a lot of tradition, like the mafia stuff that I tend to write. So there's not a lot of room to be themselves and form deeper connections in that situation.

All of this adds up to mean that when a man experiences connection, whether it's mental or physical, it's such a relief, such a big deal. And if he cries in front of someone, it's like a distilled symbol of everything that men don't normally get to express. It's a taboo, and how the characters (including the one who's crying) respond to the tears says a lot about them. This is probably why I tend to write male tears as the climax (sexual or not) of a lot of my stories. It's this proving point - can someone step out of the social expectations set for them and accept this man as a person for his genuine emotions? Can he accept himself? If so, it's an incredibly satisfying victory.

Okay uhhh...after all of that heavy stuff, here's some superficial things to mention in descriptions and such:

Facial hair. Do they like or dislike shaving? Do they have some meaning behind the way they style it? If your characters are on the run or in captivity, it will grow out unless they have a shaving kit. Unless they don't have much facial hair to begin with. Not everyone can grow a beard.

The walk. Men walk so...so...uniquely. It's gorgeous. It's not stiff, but it's solid. "Swagger" and "saunter" and "strut" are good words. Just look at men walking sometime and try to describe it.

Sitting. Unbuttoning a single coat button to sit when wearing fancy clothing. Arranging their legs differently if they're a penis-haver. That thing men do when they rest one ankle on the other knee.

Aaaaaaaa I have a lot of feelings about men, if you couldn't tell. Anyway, I hope that helped! If anyone wants to chime in with other thoughts (especially people who were raised as men growing up, because I didn't have that experience), please let me know. I'm sure I missed a lot - this is just the first few things that came to mind.
